This blog is now closed

Yup, due to me no longer working for Randommedia I have been asked to remove all traces of Randommedia branding from the blog. I thought now would be a good time to close this one down and re-open my own personal blog elsewhere.

So please update your links, feed readers, aggregators etc to point to:

Thankyou, and Goodbye.

another fine mess!

just noticed all the flash examples on this site have stopped working as they were all hosted on the randommedia domain. nothing I can do about it now (I'm currently sitting in Guys talk at WebDU) but I'll fix it all up when I get back to England and my good old desktop computer :)

Random swansong...

Just noticed we were up for a Flashforwad award for the last BBC projet I worked on, a series of flash cartoons and games called 'A fairly reliable history of British films'. We didn't win, but at least we went down fighting :)

blogging is tough work!

Ok, so I've not blogged anything on my travel blog, shame on me, but instead have been taking loads of photos. Check them out @ http://www.flickr.com/photos/46549372@N00/

I'm currently in Sydney, Australia, hanging out with Tink & Guy @ the WebDU conference. Bit of a culture shock after the beaches, and expensive too! And although it's a lot nicer than back home still, it feels pretty cold here after Thailand!

R.I.P RandomMedia

Well, after 5 years of hard work it appears Randommedia are now dead, the domain no longer loads. Damn shame if you ask me!

AS2 Perlin Noise DisplacementMapFilter

This one repetitively applies a filter to the bitmap image. Sure in AS3 this could be bigger, but it's pretty smooth even in AS2.

samorost2

Simple interaction but still very engaging. I like weird pretty games like this.
But I'm stuck on the 3rd level and I'm too busy to continue

Flash Webcam Experiments

Bought a shiney new webcam last weekend to play with Flash 8's webcam input and the new Bitmap functions a bit more, here's the results so far.

One thing, my camera does 320*240 but most cheapo webcams are only 160*120, so not sure how this will look on a lower res camera (as I'm doing an image scale up by 2), be interested to find out.

And of course they all look a lot better moving, so if you have a webcam click the image to launch the app...

Friday Night Cam, for that 'after the pub feeling'...

Cube Cam (looks really nice moving)

Spikey Cam

...and I can't believe no-one else has done this yet...
